Welcome to the Parallel Manuscript Viewer
The annotation page displays three Yoshino ki manuscripts side by side so you can compare them at the same time. Each manuscript is shown inside an OpenSeadragon viewer, which lets you:
- Zoom in/out on high-resolution images
- Pan around to see different parts of each page
- Navigate between pages using the Next and Previous buttons
You can also add annotations directly on the images. These annotations are saved in our backend database and are page-specific, meaning each annotation you create is tied to the page you were viewing at the time. When you switch pages, you will see only the annotations specific to that new page.
Currently, this feature is in testing mode: You can only add or read annotations. (No edit or delete options at this time.) Once we officially launch the feature, full functionality will be available.
How the Annotations Work
- Hover the mouse over the viewer area.
- Press
Shift
and click/drag to draw a rectangular annotation.
- Release the mouse to finalize.
- Add your annotations and click OK.
Automatic Save: As soon as you finish drawing an annotation, it gets saved automatically to its Supabase backend with the corresponding page number and manuscript name.
Page-Based Retrieval: When you flip to a different page, this tool fetches annotations for that specific page and displays them. Any annotations tied to a different page won’t show up.
